Why C.B. Frames?
C.B. Frames is a company for colorblind women, by colorblind women. The company was created due to the lack of eyeglass product for women who are colorblind in comparison to the availability for men.
(Its none by the way...)
While it is rare for women to be colorblind, it is still possible and we should have the same access to frames that we will actually want to wear as men do.
Here's the facts:
1 in 12 men are colorblind.
1 in 200 women are colorblind.
That is quite a significant difference. The reason is because males carry the dominant gene for genetic color deficiency, compared to women who carry the recessive gene. This means that in order for a woman to inherit the dominant and recessive gene, their father has to be colorblind with the dominant gene along with their mother carrying the recessive gene.
Colorblindness Types
Deuteranomaly is the most common type of red-green color blindness. It makes green look more red. This type is mild and doesn’t usually get in the way of normal activities.
Protanomaly makes red look more green and less bright. This type is mild and usually doesn’t get in the way of normal activities.
Protanopia and deuteranopia both make you unable to tell the difference between red and green at all.
Tritanomaly makes it hard to tell the difference between blue and green, and between yellow and red.
Tritanopia makes you unable to tell the difference between blue and green, purple and red, and yellow and pink. It also makes colors look less bright.
Glasses in Action
This is how colorblind test plates would look for someone who has been diagnosed with colorblindness using the glasses(right) and not using the glasses(left).
